Learn moreWhat Counts as a Dental Emergency
If you're in real pain, can't sleep, can't chew, have visible swelling, or have a tooth that's been knocked loose or knocked out — that's an emergency. Same goes for a lost crown or filling, or a broken tooth that's sharp or sensitive. Call 928-289-4441 and we'll get you in.
Why a Root Canal Is the Tooth-Saving Option
When the nerve inside your tooth gets infected — usually from deep decay or a crack — the only options are root canal or extraction. A root canal cleans out the infected nerve, seals the tooth, and lets you keep your natural tooth instead of replacing it. Dr. Gardner does these in-house, often the same week as your emergency visit.
When Extraction Is the Right Call
Sometimes a tooth is too damaged, infected, or broken to save — and a root canal won't get you a long-term result. In those cases, removing the tooth is the conservative choice. Dr. Gardner will look at your x-ray and tell you straight whether the tooth is worth saving or whether extraction is the better path forward.
When Wisdom Teeth Need to Come Out
Wisdom teeth that come in straight, fully erupt, and stay clean can sometimes be left alone. But for most people, they cause crowding, get partially stuck under the gum, or are impossible to clean — leading to decay, infection, or pain. If yours need to go, Dr. Gardner can usually remove all four in one visit.
